Embrace Counseling complies with all US federal and California state laws regarding the collection and use of the personal information of its website visitors. Specifically, you are covered by this policy if you contact us through an email form. Every attempt is made to keep this policy in line with current legal requirements. 

 

Information Collection, Use, and Sharing 

Visitors to this website are never required to provide contact information in order to read this website, or attend groups offered to the public.

Visitors may volunteer name and email address via our contact forms in order to request a clinical appointment, corporate consultation, make an inquiry or request a return phone call.

Visitors will be required to provide limited personal details to complete a donation, using our PayPal button. Your credit card information is not kept by Embrace Counseling and is not accessible to us beyond the amount of your donation.

 

Under the requirements of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (aka, HIPAA), you will be required to provide personal information when contracting with one of our psychotherapists. This information is not collected via this website.

 

We only have access to/collect information that you voluntarily give us via email or other direct contact from you. We do not and will not sell, rent or share this information to anyone for marketing purposes, but may be required to surrender the details we have if required by law enforcement officials.

We will use your information to respond to you, regarding the reason you contacted us. 

Unless you ask us not to, we may contact you via email in the future to tell you about new services, or changes to this privacy policy. Should we send a broadcast emailed newsletter to a list on which you are a member, you may unsubscribe at any time. A link for that purpose will be provided at the bottom of any broadcast emails.

Your Access to and Control Over Information 

You may opt out of any future contacts from us at any time. You can do the following at any time by contacting us via the email address or phone number provided on our website:

  • See what data we have about you, if any.

  • Change/correct any data we have about you.

  • Have us delete any data we have about you.

  • Express any concern you have about our use of your data

 

Registration 
 

Registration is not required to read our web pages or blog, or to contact us for a clinical appointment or consultation.
 

Sharing 

From time to time for academic or research purposes, we may share aggregated demographic information with scholars, teachers, and government agencies. This is not linked to any personal information that can identify any individual person.

Security of Sensitive Information

Sensitive information such as credit card data is not collected via this website. Any collection of sensitive information for the purpose of making a donation to us is performed by PayPal, and governed by their privacy policies. Read those here.

We use "cookies" on this site. A cookie is a piece of data stored on a site visitor's hard drive to improve your access to the website and identify repeat visitors. Cookies enable us to track and target the interests of our users to enhance their experience on our site. This website is owned by Mary G. Madrigal and operated by the Embrace Counseling and Resource Center, Inc. for the LGBTQIA community, and others who wish to advance their knowledge and understanding of the bio-psycho-social, economic, religious, employment, medical, legal, and discrimination challenges encountered by LGBTQIA individuals.

 

By using or accessing the website in any way, including viewing or browsing the site and its blog, you are agreeing to be bound by these Terms of Use.

The Embrace Counseling does not tolerate any form of discrimination, hate speech / email, or hate crimes towards the LGBTQIA community or towards us as an organization. Any such behavior directed at us or those we serve via email to us or at our public meetings will be immediately referred to appropriate law enforcement officials for investigation and prosecution.

Intellectual Property

 

The website and all of its content including photos, blog posts, videos and any downloadable audios or documents are the sole property of Embrace Counseling except where noted, and are, as such, fully protected by the appropriate international copyright and other intellectual property rights laws.

It is prohibited to take screen shots of any page or portion of a page of this website.  It is also prohibited to capture or copy any page or blog content and use it as your own on another website without our express written permission.
